Medical center oxygen supply and vacuum suction system

With the development of society, major hospitals at home and abroad have generally adopted a unified placement of medical gas supply. Medical gas is delivered directly to the bed head unit through decompression and delivery pipelines. In use, the patient simply plugs the plug containing the humidified bottle into the jack. The gas can flow out continuously.

The vacuum suction system utilizes the principle of negative pressure to use a medical vacuum pump to evacuate the conveying pipe to produce negative pressure and deliver it to the patient’s bedside. When used, the plug with the suction bottle needs to be inserted into the corresponding jack. The patient’s liquid dirt can be sucked into the dirt bottle by the suction device.

The emergence of this medical gas supply system and vacuum suction system has reduced the labor that the medical staff have brought with the handling of gas cylinders, reduced the pollution, and made the rescue patients more timely, safe, reliable and continuous. This article describes the composition and selection principles of these two systems.

1.The composition of the medical center oxygen supply and vacuum suction system

Central oxygen station

The general central oxygen supply station consists of the gas source, manifold, decompression device, automatic switching console, and medical gas alarm device.

Vacuum suction station

It is composed of the medical vacuum pump and control box. Generally, the medical vacuum pump is composed of 2~3 sets, which are used alternately to ensure use.

2.Gas pipeline

Oxygen gas pipeline is generally copper or stainless steel pipe. After an ordinary copper tube is used for a period of time, an oxide layer is generated on the inner wall, which is not beneficial to the human body, and the joint of the copper tube is prone to air leakage due to process limitations after a period of use. The stainless steel pipe has a large investment at one time, but its sealing performance, process adaptability, and service life are long.

Medical vacuum suction pipes are generally galvanized steel pipes.

 3.Two steady voltage regulator device

This device is to regulate the steady flow of oxygen with an inlet pressure of 1-2 MPa(adjustable) and output 0.3-0.5 MPa (adjustable) oxygen.; the device is equipped with two sets of completely independent regulator steady flow device. When one fails, the other is activated immediately to ensure normal use.

Wall type medical gas outlet.

The oxygen after the second decompression is piped to the wall oxygen terminals on each bed head unit, and each wall medical gas outlet can be equipped with oxygen and vacuum outlet depending on the number of beds. Each jack is equipped with a plug-in self-styled quick connector. When it is used, a humidifying bottle or suction regulator is inserted into the corresponding jack. Oxygen is continuously sent to the patient; when not in use, the gas is gently pulled, the source is automatically cut off.

4.Selection principle

The hospital should follow the following principles when selecting the company responsible for the design and construction of the central oxygen supply and vacuum suction system:

  1. Does the company have design and construction capabilities?
  2. Whether this company has designed and installed these two systems, you can visit the hospital and directly listen to the hospital’s opinion;
  3. Whether the system designed and installed by this company has passed technical appraisal and the level of organizational appraisal is at which level;
  4. In the selection of materials, the pipe of the oxygen supply system should be made of stainless steel pipe as much as possible. Although the investment is large at one time, it takes a long time and the repair rate is low.
  5. The number of gas outlets can be selected based on one gas supply outlet per three persons. Each outlet has two oxygen jacks and one suction jack.
