The medical gas pipeline system is an important and indispensable part of a modern hospital. It includes medical oxygen generators system, medical vacuum pumps system, medical air compressor system, nitrous oxide (N2O), nitrogen system, carbon dioxide system, and central workstation.
Through the rational design of the medical gas pipeline system project, the hospital can obtain a powerful gas supply system with lower investment and ensure the efficient operation of the hospital’s medical gas system.
1.Basic types and uses of medical gases
The basic types of medical gases are medical oxygen, vacuum, compressed air, nitrogen, nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide gas.
* Oxygen is mainly used in general patients with oxygen inhalation, emergency patients with oxygen inhalation (breathing machine) and for atomization of drugs;
* Vacuum suction mainly absorbs phlegm, pus, and blood;
* Compressed air is used in oral equipment and as a breathing force (mixed gas);
* Nitrogen is the power of surgical pneumatic tools;
* Nitrous oxide (N2O) used as anesthetic gas during surgery;
* Carbon dioxide gas is used for the peritoneal aeration and laboratory culture of bacteria.
2.Installation of the medical gas pipeline system and the central working station (gas source)
The medical gas is installed in the ward, operating room, intensive care unit (ICU), emergency room, emergency room, observation room, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, gynecological flow room and stomatology. In order to ensure a stable and continuous supply of medical gas supply system, centralized management of the central plumbing system set up central workstations (including medical gas oxygen plant, medical vacuum pumps, medical air compressor plant, etc.), through the pipeline to connect each hospital gas outlet.
Central oxygen supply system
Hospital central oxygen supply system consists of the central oxygen supply station, pipeline, ball valve, and oxygen gas outlet. The oxygen source concentrates in the central Oxygen Supply Station, the oxygen source passes through the decompression installment, and the pipeline transports to the operating room, the rescue room, the treatment room, and each ward’s terminal place, for medical use.
In order to ensure the normal oxygen supply system, there should be oxygen under-voltage medical gas alarm device. When the oxygen supply system pressure is lower than the gas alarm pressure, there should be sound, light alarm at the same time.
Medical vacuum pumps system
The medical vacuum pumps system is composed of the central attraction station, the suction pipe, the vacuum gas outlet and so on. Medical vacuum system’s negative pressure source is the central suction station of the vacuum pump unit, through the suction pump unit suction system pipe to achieve the desired negative pressure value, in the operating room, rescue room, treatment room and each ward of the gas outlet place suction.
Medical Air System (Compressed Air System)
Medical compressed air is delivered to the medical department outlets for use by the compressed air room.
Compressed air station by the air compressor, gas storage tank, air dryer, three-level filter, and control cabinets, and other components.
The compressed air delivered should be sterile, dry, and oil-free. Inhalation of gas for outdoor clean air, the suction port must be far away from all types of exhaust emissions.
3.Other medical gases (N2O, CO2, N2) system
Other medical gases (N2O, CO2, N2) are supplied to the medical gas outlet by the gas source station, after the decompression of the two-way gas manifold.
